Woking

Friday 26 July 2024

Amey have reported that not all waste collections were completed today in Woking. If you were expecting your recycling to be collected but your bin has not been emptied, please leave it out ready for collection on Monday 29 July 2024. Crews will be returning to the following roads:

Chiltern Close, Corrie Road, Drakes Way, Egley Road, Evelyn Close, Mayford Green, Rydes Close, St Peters Close, St Peters Road, Townsend Lane, Moor Lane, Bonners Close and Rose Bank Cottages.

Collections of recycling and garden waste in Woking continue to be impacted by vehicle breakdowns, delays and long queues at the tips where the collection trucks go to be emptied, and limited staff availability.

Amey is working hard to catch up. If your bin was missed, please leave it out until it is emptied. Thank you for your continued patience while we get collections back on track.

Please report any missed collections online (after 4pm).

Some price increases

Please be aware that from 1 April 2024, some waste related prices have increased. Each year, every local authority reviews the fees and charges for all services available. To cover any rising costs incurred to operate and facilitate services, local councils reluctantly have to increase certain service charges. This ensures that the council can maintain the services available, whilst also endeavouring to keep spending within budget.

Your waste collection service
Recently, Woking Borough Council’s Section 151 Officer, the Interim Director of Finance issued a Section 114 Notice in response to the unprecedented financial challenges facing the local authority. The Notice is required because the expenditure of the council is likely to exceed the financial resources available.

A Section 114 Notice stops all but essential spending, making sure the council can continue to provide vital services to both the local community and to its most vulnerable residents.

We would therefore like to provide reassurances, that as a statutory service, waste collection services across the borough will continue to be fulfilled as usual.
