Home composting

Home composting is the most environmentally-friendly way to deal with garden waste as it rots down to produce a nutritious compost which you can then use on your garden. You can read advice on what to compost and how on the Surrey Environment Partnership (SEP) website.

Residents can also buy a variety of exclusively discounted composting products including hot composters and food waste digesters all year round from Great Green Systems.

SEP also runs regular sales of standard compost bins and hot composters. Please keep checking the SEP website for details.

Recycling centres

Garden waste can be taken to your local Community Recycling Centre for free. For full information on opening dates and times, and waste types accepted at each site, please check Surrey County Council’s website.

We are working with SCC to monitor queueing times and will consider extending opening hours if there is increased demand.

Let your lawn grow

It might sound untidy, but the The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds say that mowing your lawn less, and letting parts of it grow long, saves you time and helps give nature a home.  Visit the RSPB’s website for more hints and tips.
